Netflix Releases First Trailer for ‘Benji’ Reboot

Netflix has released a new Benji trailer for the reboot of the beloved dog movie and it is, as you would expect, adorable.

In a modern retelling of the classic story, Benji follows an orphaned dog who is found and rescued by two New Orleans school kids who strike up a friendship with the scrappy pup. When the kids are kidnapped it’s up to Benji to save the day.

The film is written, directed and produced by Brandon Camp (Love Happens), whose father Joe Camp wrote, directed and produced the original. Jason Blum (Get Out, Paranormal Activity) also produced.

Benji stars Kiele Sanchez (Lost, The Glades), Gabriel Bateman (Stalker) and Darby Camp (Big Little Lies).

The original film was released in 1974 and was a surprise global hit, making over $45 million on just a $500,000 budget. It spawned a franchise that produced four other successful films.

Benji releases worldwide on Netflix March 16.
